AI Visual Design Projection Mapping Generative Art
AI Festival Generative Art Immersive Media

/ Overview

Artificial intelligence is integrated into the creative process to generate visual worlds, narrative environments and animated textures designed for architecture, events and immersive installations. AI does not replace direction, compositing and mapping: it becomes a phase of visual ideation and production that makes it possible to rapidly explore atmospheres, characters, landscapes, natural elements and architectural transformations, which are then refined and synchronized in the real space.

/ Project Details

Name: AI Design for Projection Mapping

Client: Euroflora, Auditorium Rome, LIFE Festival, Municipality of Tarvisio, Municipality of Amalfi

Location: Amalfi, Genoa, Rome, Tarvisio, Alberobello

Period: 2023–2026

Video Mapping A.I.

/ Creative Approach

The concept begins with the possibility of using AI as a previsualization engine: generating images, scenarios and visual suggestions before the traditional animation phase. The result is a hybrid process in which prompts, visual references, 3D modeling, compositing, sound design and mapping coexist within an artistically controlled pipeline.

/ AI Workflow

Generative concept design

AI is used to produce concepts, styleframes, color variations and narrative environments. The generated images are then selected, corrected and transformed into elements consistent with the visual project.

AI + 3D animation

Generative outputs are integrated with 2D/3D animation, architectural masks, depth, particle systems and compositing to become sequences suitable for monumental projection.

Site-specific adaptation

Each piece of content is adapted to its location: a square, a facade, an auditorium or an alpine landscape all require specific proportions, rhythm, palette and narrative.

/ Case Studies

This page brings together three research directions: the spectacular Christmas atmosphere of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the floral imagery of Genoa Flower Power Lights for Euroflora, and the Krampus story in Tarvisio. These works show how AI can be used to build recognizable, poetic and immediately communicative visual worlds while preserving the artistic control typical of video mapping.

/ Applications

Projection mapping

The architectural surface was digitally reconstructed and calibrated to the real facade to achieve perspective correspondence, accurate volumes and depth effects.

Euroflora Genoa — Flower Power Lights

For Genoa Flower Power Lights, Piazza Matteotti becomes a visual environment inspired by flowers, Flower Power culture and the 1960s/1970s, with architectural projections synchronized to music.

Tarvisio — The Christmas of the Little Forest Animals

In Tarvisio, the AI language is directed toward a natural, family-oriented story: forest animals, snow, trees, alpine landscapes and Christmas atmosphere in a narrative suited to the urban space.

/ Context

Through the integration of video mapping and artificial intelligence, visual content can transform surfaces, architecture and images into dynamic, immersive experiences, where digital art, animation and technological experimentation merge into an innovative visual narrative.
