Video Projection Mapping, 2024
/ Overview
In February 2024, during the Bright Brussels Festival, the Musée BELvue and Place Royale became the stage for Shine, a video mapping work by Luca Agnani Studio. The work pays homage to Neoclassicism through a dance of light and shadow that enhances the building’s monumentality, transforming architectural details into a visual and sound experience accompanied by Italian classical music.

/ Challenge
The concept arises from the dialogue with the neoclassical architecture of Place Royale and the monumental presence of the Musée BELvue. The challenge was to transform the facade into a score of light, keeping the geometry of the building recognizable and amplifying every detail through shadows, volumes and movement.

Neoclassical tribute
The video mapping interprets the building’s neoclassical forms through a sequence of light and shadow that highlights its proportions, rhythm and monumentality.
Light and shadow choreography
The facade is crossed by luminous transformations that animate columns, windows and frames, bringing out architectural details without altering their reading.
Italian classical music
The Italian classical music soundtrack accompanies the visual development, building an immersive audiovisual experience in the heart of Brussels.

Shine transforms the Musée BELvue into a living surface, where architecture becomes rhythm, luminous matter and visual narrative. The project creates a public experience that brings together architectural heritage, Italian culture and contemporary digital language within the Bright Brussels Festival route.

The surface of the Musée BELvue was digitally calibrated to align the animations with the building’s real volumes, frames and proportions.
Festival projection setup
The projection was designed for the urban context of Place Royale, enhancing the monumental facade within the festival’s light route.

Synchronization with Italian classical music guides the rhythm of the sequences, creating a balance between sound composition, light and architecture.

Shine was presented from February 15 to 18, 2024 as part of the Bright Brussels Festival, with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels. The work by Luca Agnani Studio paid homage to the Neoclassicism of Place Royale, transforming the Musée BELvue into an experience of light, shadow, music and architecture.
