In December 2020, Piazza Martiri in Carpi was transformed into a large urban setting through a video mapping work by Luca Agnani Studio. The project, created for the Municipality of Carpi, covered the 230 meters of the square’s portico with light, creating a visual narrative capable of enhancing architecture, public space and urban atmosphere in one of Italy’s largest squares.

/ Challenge
The concept begins with the monumental scale of Piazza Martiri and the long architectural sequence of its portico. The challenge was to build a continuous narrative across a 230-meter surface, keeping the rhythm of the arches legible and transforming the entire portico into a luminous scenography.

The luminous sequences cross the surface with progressive transformations, alternating construction effects, dissolves and movement across the portico details.

The mapping transforms the portico of Piazza Martiri into a living surface, where architecture becomes rhythm, depth and visual storytelling.
