VITERBO
VIDEO MAPPING VITERBO CATHEDRAL
VIDEO MAPPING TEATRO DELL’UNIONE
/ 01 Santa Rosa
The first intervention was created for the Viterbo Cathedral, in Piazza San Lorenzo, during the days connected to the Feast of Santa Rosa. The facade of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo becomes a narrative surface: images, architecture and music build a visual story dedicated to the city, its patron saint and the Transport of the Machine of Santa Rosa.

Project: Video Mapping Viterbo Cathedral
Context: Feast of Santa Rosa
Location: Piazza San Lorenzo, Viterbo
Surface: Cathedral facade / Cathedral of San Lorenzo
Technique: 3D Architectural Projection Mapping
Artist: Luca Agnani Studio
/ Public Response
The cathedral project received a strong public response: the local press reported high participation and approval for the level of the 3D video mapping. The show was presented again in the following days in Piazza San Lorenzo, confirming the relationship between the city, its religious memory and a contemporary form of audiovisual storytelling.
/ Visual Development
Santa Rosa
The visual content recalls the figure of the patron saint, the collective ritual of the Transport and the identity dimension of the city’s most important festival.
Viterbo Cathedral
The composition works on the facade of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, highlighting volumes, frames and symmetries without erasing the architectural reading of the building.
Piazza San Lorenzo
The square becomes an open-air scenic space, designed for a broad audience and repeated evening viewing.
/ 02 Teatro dell’Unione
After the success of the cathedral mapping for Santa Rosa, the Viterbo path continued with a second intervention: a Christmas mapping on the facade of Teatro dell’Unione. The language changes context but keeps the same principle: using light to transform historic architecture into an urban stage, accessible from the square.

Project: Christmas Video Mapping 2017
Surface: Facade of Teatro dell’Unione
Location: Piazza Giuseppe Verdi, Viterbo
Date: December 2017
Technique: 3D Architectural Projection Mapping
Artist: Luca Agnani Studio
/ Christmas 2017
The facade of Teatro dell’Unione is transformed into a luminous Christmas scene, with animations built on the building’s proportions. The theater is not treated as a simple screen, but as living architecture: columns, windows, frames and volumes become active elements in the composition.
/ Visual Development
Architectural illusion
The theater’s geometries are decomposed and recomposed through light, movement and perspective effects calibrated on the real facade.
Christmas atmosphere
The project places the theater within the city’s Christmas atmosphere, transforming Piazza Giuseppe Verdi into an evening space of public attraction.
Urban continuity
The second mapping consolidates the relationship between Luca Agnani Studio and Viterbo, ideally continuing the path begun with the cathedral and Santa Rosa.
/ Context & Legacy
The two works tell two different moments of the same city: on one side the symbolic and religious heart of Viterbo Cathedral and the Feast of Santa Rosa, on the other Teatro dell’Unione as urban architecture illuminated for the Christmas period. In both cases, video mapping becomes a tool for enhancing heritage: not an overlaid decoration, but a narrative built on the real forms of the buildings.
